My Menopause Journey: An Update on Finding Relief

Welcome to my menopause journey! This post serves as an update to my earlier article, “Menopause Frustration and Finding Relief.” If you haven’t read that yet, I encourage you to check it out for a comprehensive look at my symptoms, frustrations, and the steps I took to overcome them.

Embracing the Menopause Journey

Instead of feeling frustrated with menopause, I now view it as a journey. Through extensive research, open conversations with my doctors, and tailored treatment decisions, I’ve found ways to ease my symptoms. Menopause is a universal experience for women, and it’s essential to discuss it openly—no more hiding or feeling embarrassed. We need to shed the stigma and embrace these conversations, for ourselves and those who support us.

Understanding Menopause Symptoms

Initially, menopause brought relentless hot flashes that disrupted my days and nights. I experienced severe fatigue, irritability, and brain fog, along with persistent sleep issues. Vaginal dryness and recurrent urinary tract infections added to my struggles, and my libido took a significant hit. It felt like menopause was the only topic of conversation in my household. Thankfully, my supportive partner stood by me, even when I felt anything but confident as a woman.

My Menopause Update: Finding Effective Solutions

Fast forward two years, and I’m thrilled to share that I feel much better. After experimenting with over-the-counter herbal remedies, I decided to try bio-identical hormone therapy. This decision has been life-changing.

Since starting bio-identical hormones two years ago, the improvement in my symptoms has been remarkable. I’ve also incorporated a low-dose estrogen vaginal insert, which has greatly improved my comfort levels. Additionally, I regularly use natural coconut oil and vitamin E suppositories for internal moisturizing.

My hot flashes subsided within weeks of starting hormone therapy, and over time, I’ve regained my sense of self. I feel emotionally and physically balanced again, functioning at what I consider a normal level.

Renewed Confidence and Well-Being

With this renewed balance, my confidence has soared. My thinking is clearer, and my intimate life has improved significantly. Maintaining a healthy diet and regular exercise continues to alleviate any residual menopause symptoms. Plus, it’s been over a year since my last period—one of the sure signs I’ve entered full menopause.

While I’m unsure how long I’ll need transdermal bio-identical hormone therapy, I’m grateful for the positive impact it has had on my life. It has transformed my experience from one of frustration to days filled with ease and acceptance. And let me tell you—being free from periods feels like liberation; I can wear white pants again without a second thought!
